Health requirements for entering school:

Students entering Corpus Christi School from an out-of-state school district must meet State of CT health requirements before school entry. The transfer student must have a recent (less than a year) history and physical examination on file.

Preschool: Early Childhood State of CT Health Assessment Record that must include:

Kindergarten: State of CT Dept. of Ed. Health Assessment Record that must include:

7th graders: State of CT Dept. of Ed. Health Assessment Record that must include:

Health Screenings:

Vision, hearing and impedance screenings are completed in the fall. Scoliosis screening is done in the spring. Students that do not pass a repeat screening will receive a letter for a specialist referral.

Medications in school:

All medications, prescription and over-the-counter, require a written physician's order to be administered in school by the school nurse. Medication order forms are available in the healthroom. Medication must be received in the original container and brought to the healthroom by a responsible adult. Students are not allowed to transport medications to or from school. Parents are required to pick up their child's medication from the healthroom on the last day of school.

Illnesses:

Students should not attend school if they have a contagious disease, have had a fever or vomited in the last 24 hours, or have a persistent cough. Students being treated for bacterial infections (ex. strep throat..) need to have completed a full 24 hours of treatment with antibiotics before returning to school.

We appreciate your cooperation.

Children's Charity:

Each year, students collect aluminum flip top tabs from soda cans and the like. A local recycling plant will give us a check made out to the charity of our choice based on the value of aluminum in today's market. In the past, students have made contributions to the Ronald McDonald House of Springfield MA, the Ronald McDonald House of New Haven, CT, and the Child Life program at the Connecticut Children's Medical Center. Students may drop off the tabs in the health room anytime. This is an ongoing collection. Students may then nominate a charity to be the recipient of their efforts.
