Corpus Christi School follows the guidelines set forth by the Archdiocesan Office of Catholic Schools. All academic subjects such as mathematics, reading, language arts, science, and social studies are taught by highly qualified and enthusiastic teachers in keeping with current guidelines. Teachers regularly participate in Professional Learning Committees to enhance the learning experience of the students.

 

Elements consistent through all grade levels: 
The modern science laboratory is utilized by all classes; experiments performed in the lab reinforce the lessons taught.

Technology is integrated throughout the curriculum with students in grades 1 through 8 utilizing a fully equipped computer lab with internet connection. In addition, all grades have access to a floating student laptop cart that enhances classroom lessons. The school buildings are wirelessly connected to the network, which facilitates internet access into each classroom. Classrooms are equiped with ceiling projectors that connect to teacher computers. The students learn to use the internet for research, Microsoft Office to develop Excel spreadsheets, use Word to write papers, and give Powerpoint presentations themed around specific academic content areas. The school invests in several web-based applications such as Discovery Streaming that are used regularly. Corpus Christi School is moving towards online textbooks that will ultimately take advantage of new tablet and cell phone technology. Currently, 7th and 8th grade American History classes are using e-texts.

The study of religion takes place every day. Current religion books are used in all grades with supplemental instructional materials used for the sacrament classes. Students take an active part in preparing and celebrating monthly school liturgies.

Spanish is taught weekly beginning in Kindergarten and continuing through eighth grade. Upon graduation, most students are eligible for Spanish II in high school.

Students participate in physical education, music, and art with teachers who specialize in, and classrooms and facilities dedicated to, these areas.

Throughout the year educational, cultural, and health and safety enrichment programs are provided.

Students also participate in D.A.R.E., a drug and alcohol prevention program offered by the Wethersfield Police Department.

Reading - New reading series in grades K - 3.

Science - Invention Convention; class projects addressing areas such as

Health Science is taught to all grades and examines age appropriate topics such as nutrition and adolescent development.

Algebra -  Eighth grade student have the opportunity to complete Freshman Algebra before entering high school.

Eighth grade students are regularly accepted into local Catholic high schools and many private prep schools.
